Rendwar 0.1.9: Pilots with a past, a war with commanders
The galaxy's independent captains now keep their identities, earn their living and remember what happens to them. The Rend prepare physical operations led by commanders whose losses matter.
New
- Persistent NPC pilots with distinct traits, experience, relationships and a dossier of their history. Survivors can return on another ship; a replacement pilot begins a new life.
- Independent captains trade, buy equipment, mine, salvage large wrecks, hunt and volunteer for the war using real cargo, stock and credits.
- Rend hive doctrines, reconnaissance, named commanders, visible operation stages and supply deliveries needed to establish a captured foothold.
- New artwork for delivery items and clearer contract, cargo and equipment information.
Changed
- The war keeps pressure on a quiet server. Future operations scale gradually with active accounts and their experience; existing enemies do not suddenly gain strength when someone joins.
- Destroyed ships and lost supplies leave real gaps in an offensive. A commander can regroup or retreat when a battle turns against the hive.
- NPCs respect protected loot and player priority at wrecks. Cutting produces finite physical materials that still have to be collected.
- The galaxy map distinguishes visited systems, and calls for help remain visible while their battles continue.
- The laboratory and black market can use suitable items from the local warehouse as well as the hold.
Fixed
- Demo saves now keep the whole living world, markets and characters together, including pilots waiting to recover after losing a ship.
- NPC work no longer relies on repeated impossible pickups, free replacement ships or duplicated market transactions.
- Improved contract cancellation explanations, route updates, cargo quantity controls, interface scaling and text rendering.
