Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Stingtail Games keeps when you use Rendwar, why, and what you can do about it.
What we keep
- Your account: your username, email address and a one-way hash of your password (we never see the password itself). If you sign in through Steam, your SteamID.
- Security records: the network addresses and times of sign-ins and of codes sent to you, kept to protect your account and the game from abuse.
- The game: your pilots, their progress and what they do in the shared world, including chat, kept so the world can run and so we can enforce the rules.
- Purchases: what you bought and when. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details.
- Email: the letters we send you (confirmation codes, receipts) and whether they were delivered, through our mail provider, Resend.
- Negotiations with the AI: what you type in your own words to a computer-controlled captain over comms, and messages between pilots of different languages when they are translated — with the AI's answer.
Why
To run your account and the game, to keep both secure, to answer you when you write to us, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
Only the services that help us run Rendwar: our hosting provider, Cloudflare (which delivers this website), Resend (email), Steam (if you link it), our payment provider when you buy something, and OpenAI when you talk to a computer-controlled captain in your own words or to a pilot of another language — each only for that purpose.
Artificial intelligence
Some lines of computer-controlled captains are written by an AI model (OpenAI). When you type your own words to such a captain, they go to the model only to understand what you mean and to voice the captain's answer; when two pilots speak different languages, their messages go to it only to be translated. We send no account details with them — only the text, the language and what the game itself decided. We use the paid service, which does not train its models on what we send. Prices, decisions and numbers in a negotiation are always the game's, never the AI's. You can report any line written by the AI from the conversation log.
How long
Account data is kept while your account exists. Sign-in and email records are kept for up to 90 days. Texts sent to the AI and its answers are kept for up to 30 days, to look into reports about them. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep (such as purchase records).
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion, and you may object to how we use it. Write to [email protected] from your account's address. If you are in Ukraine, you may also complain to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights; if you are in the EU or the UK, to your data protection authority.
